## Linguistics

I love to study languages, and tend to take a very long, round-about path through etymology and looking for patterns in pronunciation. I've learned to read several scripts (alphabets), and this has led me into the world of con-langs (constructed languages) and con-scripts (constructed scripts, a.k.a. neography).&#x20;

Through these adventures, I've created a number of my own writing styles, which led me to learn how to create fonts; and I've attempted to create several new alphabets for English, one of which has been successful, presently dubbed *NewEng*.&#x20;

*NewEng* is a phonemic alphabet with a many-to-one relationship between letters and phonemes, thus it can be used to accurately maintain etymological history whilst not creating any confusions as to how to pronounce a letter. This draws inspiration directly from the methods used in both Thai and Burmese to maintain a modern alphabet that also accurately preserves the ancient Pali and Sanskrit vocabulary.&#x20;

## Cyber Tech

### Tech support

I provide tech support for people and businesses.

On my tech support website, I post articles and how-to guides for all kinds of common problems and annoyances that most people face on a daily basis.

### Decentralisation

The power that drives the modern world is data.&#x20;

Our way to take back our power is to take back our data.&#x20;

The only way to do that is to store our data in our own homes and communities, and perhaps with backups held by small, trustworthy businesses.&#x20;

#### HomeLabbing

I am studying this broad field of cyber technology presently, and have put it into practice for my own digital world. Right now, 90% of my "cloud" data is stored on a server on an old laptop in my bedroom, and I can access that data securely from anywhere the world.

I am also writing how-to guides and running workshops to lead people through the process, from tech-newbie to proficient enough to install, set up and configure their own self-hosted home cloud server.&#x20;

#### Digital Life Freedom

Decentralisation also includes activities like "de-Googling", which entails extracting your digital life out of Google — and other tech corporations — as much as possible; as well as redesigning your digital lifestyle so as to reduce digital surveillance as much as you can.

## Science research

I have a biology degree in genetics & ecosystems.

My final-year dissertation was not ground-breaking, but I self-published it on my *"sciencing"* website.

One of my main long-term goals is to get into the field of scientific research, but it is vital that my research work is free from vested interest and corporate bias, so first I must build up a secure digital world, and second I need to acquire financial means which do not create any conflicts of interest.

## Arts

Believe it or not, I somehow have time to do arty things in between everything else.

Actually, aside from the linguistics and font design, I'd really rather not be doing most of what I'm doing — I'm doing those things because I need to earn money to be able to enter the scientific research realm and to be able to survive & thrive in order to produce art and engage in community with humankind and life. We wouldn't need to do research to protect the planet if we were already living in harmony with Mother Nature.

### Flow arts

I do poi and contact staff, and dabble in contact juggling and juggling.

I do them on fire and also on plastic. I used to do LED too but some kind soul really needed them at a party that I put on so they took them and now they're somewhere that I am not.

I have surprisingly few vides of myself actually doing any of these things.

It's unreasonably difficult to get anyone to video me, and even harder to acquire the video afterwards, *especially* in the original format. Everyone just sends things via WhatsApp or Facebook and then deletes the original file. This is NOT how you help someone record their performances!

<summary>Sports</summary>

I never used to be a sporty person.

There is a long story about why that is, and I'm gradually joining all the dots together.&#x20;

(It largely comes down to the psycho-emotional & physiological effects of medical issues which I believe were induced by the "healthcare system". Feel free to contact me if you want to know more — I believe that I'm certainly not the only one.)

Recently, I've got into all kinds of ball sports, mainly pickleball and badminton. I've also started exercising regularly at the gym and practising calisthenics in the park.

I add this information here because my path into being capable of doing sports comes directly from my years training in flow arts. I'm still learning the basics of these sports, but I'm finding that they can be a flow state in a similar way to the flow arts props I use.&#x20;
